The rooms are comfortable and the location is great – midway between Jindabyne and Charlottes Pass and close to the road out to Guthega where we had a great time mountain-biking and hiking. Swimming in the icy cold waters of Sponars Dam was a wonderful way to wake-up and our hosts, Rosie and Eric were absolutely brilliant! They were hands-on helpful with everything and anything you could ask for. They helped us think about what to do, where to go, accompanying us on our travels when we needed it and collecting our tired out bodies at the end of the day.  I highly recommend you and Sponars to all and everyone visiting the fabulous snowy mountains.

Never before have we stayed in a place like Sponars, we felt at home from our arrival to our departure. Rose & Eric were the perfect hosts & nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommend a stay here to everyone. We were fortunate to be able to enjoy a spring snowfall & a warm fireplace. 5/5 Thank you both.

Stopped here for an after-ski beer, well out of season and the owners we’re so lovely and opened up the bar for us! Amazing beers and charming ambiance. It was snowing outside such a magical experience in an historic building. This will definitely be our after-ski must stop going forward.

We stayed at Sponars for the New Years weekend going from 2021 into 2022 (3 nights).
We had a wonderful time. Eric and Rosemary (and their team of able assistants) were friendly and happy to oblige with any requests, as well as provide locals’ knowledge and tips of things to see and do in the area. Sponars is designed as a ski chalet, the rooms are great for that purpose, but don’t expect all the trappings of a luxury hotel. Precautions required for everyone’s safety due to covid were appropriately handled. Overall, good value. There is a heated pool, sauna, pool tables, table tennis, TV room and bar on premises, and a freshwater lake with kayak and paddleboards on the grounds.
